I placed it next to an old railroad track (what that track was doing on the shore of the bay is a mystery). I placed the stone on some mossy seaweed and covered it with some other stones because I didn't want it to wash away during the night. The next morning, I went back to the spot at low tide and the stone was there. The stones that I had covered it with were gone. Later that day, I took more pictures of the stone as the tide rolled in...
I surmise that the stone will be pushed further into the sand by the waves of the rising tides, will become wedged under the rails by the rising and lowering of the tides, will break free and wash out to the salty water, or will eventually be picked up by a curious beach walker...
